My name is Kristen Hovet and I am an American-Canadian journalist and writer specializing in the areas of psychology, health, science, and the intersection of sociology and culture. My focus is in bridging aspects of the humanities and science, and making science information accessible and meaningful to a wide variety of individuals. I truly believe that science is for everyone.

In addition to doing freelance work for several media outlets, I am a contributing columnist for the Genetic Literacy Project's "Human Genetics" section.

I am the host of the Humans of Earth podcast, featuring humans from around the world and highlighting the issues that matter to them.

I am also a member of the National Association of Science Writers and the Canadian Association of Journalists.

I received a degree in English from Simon Fraser University, and have completed certificate courses in Epigenetics, Personalized Medicine, Human Physiology, and Genetics and Evolution.

Born in Williston, North Dakota, I have moved over 30 times in my life, and currently reside in Vancouver, British Columbia with my family.

When I'm not writing, I love to read, travel, attend concerts, peruse Netflix, and do yoga.
