My name is Kristen Hovet and I am a science journalist specializing in the areas of psychology, health, and sociology. I strive to bridge aspects of the humanities and science, and make science information accessible and meaningful to a wide variety of individuals. I truly believe that science is for everyone.

In addition to doing freelance work for several media outlets, I am the contributing editor for BRIGID Magazine and a contributing columnist for the Genetic Literacy Project's "Human Genetics" section. I perform as Swanky on the "edutainment" web series, Swanky Skeptic.

I received my degree in English from Simon Fraser University, and have completed certificate courses in Epigenetics, Personalized Medicine, Human Physiology, and Genetics and Evolution.

Born in Williston, North Dakota, I have moved over 30 times in my life, and currently reside in Vancouver, British Columbia with my family.

When I'm not writing, I love to read, travel, attend concerts, peruse Netflix, and exercise. I am a hospice volunteer.
