My name is Kristen Hovet and I am a journalist and writer covering a variety of topics ranging from health and medical innovation to psychology and social issues. I strive to make information accessible and meaningful to a diverse audience.

In addition to doing freelance work for several media outlets, I am a communications specialist at BC Children's Hospital Research Institute, the founding editor of BRIGID Magazine and a contributing columnist at Genetic Literacy Project.

I am working on my second degree in Psychology at Simon Fraser University. I have completed certificates in Epigenetics, Personalized Medicine, Human Physiology, and Genetics and Evolution. I am also a member of the National Association of Science Writers, Science Writers and Communicators of Canada, and the International Association of Business Communicators.

Born in Williston, North Dakota, I have moved over 30 times in my life, and currently reside in Vancouver, British Columbia with my family.

When I'm not writing, I love to read, travel, attend concerts, peruse Netflix, and go for long walks and hikes.
